The Fransen family
We are Paul, Franka, Tom and Bob Fransen.
After running our own patisserie in Haarlem (in the Netherlands) for 15 years, we had to give it up due to health reasons. We decided to take our lives in a completely different direction, and emigrated to Norway just before Tom was due to start secondary school. It didn't take long for us to make up our minds. After seeing 2 farmhouses in the north of Norway, we came back via Hafslo. That's where we found the Hafslotun Holiday Village.
It's a lovely place to live and work with a family, with fantastic opportunities for the boys to go to school and grow up here. Hafslo is a small town (approx. 1200 inhabitants) in the middle of the Luster municipality, and is very centrally located for the glaciers, national parks and beautiful mountains. Another thing that made our decision easy was that our new town would be easy to get to from the Netherlands for our family and friends. With an airport within easy reach (approx. 35 min.) and good boat and bus links, this is not a problem.
"Hafslotun in new hands", was the headline in the local paper, the Sogn Avis, on 19 February 2004, announcing our arrival in Hafslo. Now, after living here in Hafslo, all four of us are convinced that going to live in Norway was absolutely the right decision. The peace, space and beautiful surroundings make it wonderful to be here every day.
A very warm welcome to Hafslo,
from Paul, Franka, Tom and Bob Fransen.
